Where do I begin? Disney's recent remake (in their slew of modern CGI remakes) was the classic 90's tale of The Lion King, and like with most remakes it wasn't on par with the original. While their was some inspired casting (in the way of Seth Rogen), other performances fall flat, and with the hyper-realistic animals and their lack of classic cartoon expressiveness, they characters seem dead inside. While they follow the plot as well as they can, and while they rendered a near perfect replica of the African savannah, Disney lost the most important aspect of their film, the heart. 2/5 ⭐️'s

If you want to have some cathartic nostalgia, or if you want to give the same memories you have to your children then by all means show them the original (which is still readily available on Blu-ray and DVD), and save the money you would've spent to see this abomination, and see a good film, like Tarantino's "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood". 🎟

So glad that someone reviewed this film. Fair & valid critique on the subject matter, and I love the comparison-photo set-up.
I'm glad someone finally had the balls to say it!
